Hardwired IT upgrades Windows 10 computers to Windows 11 on-site across Ottawa and Gatineau. We check whether your PC qualifies, back up your files, do the upgrade and make sure your programs, printer and email still work before we leave. If your computer can't run Windows 11, we tell you plainly and help you move to a new one.
Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, and the one-year Extended Security Updates program for home users ended on October 13, 2026. A Windows 10 computer still turns on and runs, but it no longer receives security fixes. Every month, new holes are found that will never be patched, which matters most for online banking, email and anything with saved passwords.
For most people the answer is simple: upgrade to Windows 11 if the computer qualifies, or replace it if it doesn't. The hard part is knowing which one applies to your machine, and doing it without losing files or breaking the programs you rely on. That's what we handle.
Microsoft's minimum requirements for Windows 11 are:
Many computers that show "This PC can't run Windows 11" actually meet the requirements but have TPM or Secure Boot switched off in the firmware settings. Turning them on is a quick fix we do on-site. If the processor itself isn't supported, no setting will change that, and we'll explain your options honestly rather than sell you something you don't need.
Sometimes the honest answer is that a computer has reached the end of the road. When that happens, we explain why and help you choose a replacement that fits how you actually use it, without upselling. Once you have it, we set it up at your home or office, move your files, email, browser bookmarks and printer from the old computer, then wipe the old drive so your personal data doesn't leave with it.
See new computer setup and file transfer for how that visit works.
We come to your home or office anywhere in Ottawa and Gatineau, in English or French.

“Stephane is the best. My computer crashed . We worked together to backup and restore my data. And make it faster. I was so discourage before and now I am so happy. Price is very reasonable. Thank you Stephane”
“My computer was infected with malware and nothing was working properly. I called Stephane and he responded right away and showed up within the hour. He managed to identify several additional issues and resolved all of them, very quickly.”
Yes. Microsoft's upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is free on computers that meet the requirements. You only pay for the technician's time to check the PC, protect your files and do the upgrade, and you get a free estimate first.
No. On a qualifying PC, an in-place upgrade keeps your files, programs and most settings. We still back up your important files before starting, so nothing is at risk if something goes wrong.
Not always. Many computers fail the check only because TPM or Secure Boot is turned off in the firmware settings, which takes a few minutes to switch on. If the processor itself isn't supported, we tell you plainly and explain your options.

Usually 1.5 to 3 hours on-site, depending on the computer's speed, how many updates it needs and how much data we back up first.
If your PC qualifies and runs well, upgrading is the cheaper choice. If it doesn't qualify, or it's slow even after a tune-up, a new computer is often better value. We give you an honest answer, and if you replace it, we set up the new one and move everything over.
Yes. We check every workstation, upgrade the ones that qualify, and plan replacements for the ones that don't, scheduled around your business hours.
