🔌 Existing Wiring, Made to Work

Network Cabling Repair in Ottawa and Gatineau

Network jacks in the walls, but nothing works when you plug in? I terminate, repair and test the wiring you already have: wall jacks, patch panels, the structured wiring panel in newer homes, and the connections back to your router or switch. Every jack labelled and tested before I leave. I work with existing cable only; I don't pull new cable through walls.

When a Cable Beats Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is shared, and walls, floors and neighbours' networks all cut into it. If your home or office already has network cable in the walls, putting it to work is often the cheapest speed upgrade you can make: anything that doesn't move gets a better connection from a cable, and every device you take off Wi-Fi leaves more room for the phones and laptops that need it.

What I Do With Your Existing Wiring

  1. Find where everything goes. Trace each existing cable from its wall jack back to the panel, closet or basement, and test which ones are live, dead or miswired.
  2. Firm quote before any work. Which jacks and ports need terminating or repair, agreed up front.
  3. Terminate and repair. Re-terminate or replace faulty wall jacks and patch panel ports, connect a structured wiring panel to your router or a switch, and label every jack.
  4. Testing. Each run is tested end to end before the job is closed.
  5. Hook-up. Devices, switch and access points connected and checked, so everything works when I leave.

Common Jobs

What I don't do

I work with network cable that's already installed. I don't pull or fish new cable through walls or ceilings; for new runs, a cabling installer is the right call, and I can set up and test the network once their cable is in. Anything involving 120V power, outlets or the electrical panel is work for a licensed electrician.

Usually, yes. It's common in newer homes: cable was run to several rooms and back to a panel in the basement, but never connected. I identify each cable, terminate it properly, connect it to your router or a switch, and test every jack.

Yes. Every run I terminate or repair is tested end to end before the job is closed, so you know each wall jack actually works at speed.

For anything that stays in one place, such as desktops, TVs, game consoles, office printers and Wi-Fi access points, a cable is faster, more stable and frees up your Wi-Fi for phones and laptops. Most homes and offices do best with both.
